How We Help

65,000 families rely on Community Groceries to put food on their table every day. Without our support they would go hungry. You can help us make a difference in their lives.

16 million meals provided to families battling food poverty

65,000 children and families kept fed

27 stores in the poorest communities around the UK

Everyday lives are being changed. People like Sarah and Chris.

‘The Community Grocery was there for me when I lost my job and couldn’t afford the food my kids needed. They gave me access to the food I desperately needed. I don’t possess sufficient words to truly explain the emotions we felt at that moment, but I know I will never forget them. They stopped us going hungry.’

This Christmas we want to raise 65,000 plates to give away to families through Community Groceries. One plate (which is equal to a £5 shop) for every member. Each plate costs £5 and will help us make sure families don’t go hungry this Christmas and beyond by keeping our shelves stocked.

What Is The Community Grocery?

Community Groceries are here to bridge the gap between food banks and supermarkets by supporting local residents with weekly food shops and wrap around services. We’re here for anyone feeling the impact of the rising cost of living, and are ready to help.

Inside a Community Grocery you’ll find a full range of food, fruit and vegetables, bakery items, household goods, and toiletries available for members to choose as part of their £5 shop.

But it’s not just about the food. In each store members find a range of free wrap-around support on offer including mental health courses, money management support, healthy cooking classes, job clubs and much more.

To date, we’ve opened 27 Community Groceries around the UK, seeing each help their new neighbours and members get the vital support they were desperate for.
